Inspired by Montalvo's Lucas Artists Programs artists' residency, the Summer Arts Institute at Montalvo connects highly talented, forward-looking visual, performing and multi-media teaching artists with Silicon Valley youth. Participants have limitless opportunities to build on their talents and develop new skills through multi-arts experiences designed to give young people a variety of exciting ways to explore the issues they feel passionately about, actively dialogue with their peers and use the arts to get their voices heard.
Facilitated by artist group and Montalvo artists-in-residence alumni headRush, the Summer Arts Institute invites youth ages 14-18 to collaborate with world class artists in an investigation of urban design. The Institute expands on a previous Montalvo teen program's (Youth Action Coalition with Adobe Youth Voices) exploration of the role of the arts and youth in urban development, resulting in a multi-media model of a San José that answers to its young people.
“There couldn’t be a better setting for inspiration and artistic work! In the short five days, teachers really got to know the kids very well. We are looking forward to having our son attend next summer!” – Nina, mother of camper
Registration is available exclusively through the Montalvo Box Office. Please call 408.961.5858, Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm.
