Montalvo Art Center’s Master Class Series provides students with unique opportunities to interact directly with world-renowned master artists representing all artistic mediums. As visiting artists come to Montalvo to perform or exhibit their work, a wonderful opportunity is presented to make a connection with local students.
Presented by the education department in collaboration with Montalvo's literary, visual and performing arts programs and the Lucas Artists Programs, the Master Class Series brings leading contemporary artists into Silicon Valley’s classrooms for an exchange of knowledge and inspiration in the arts and in general life lessons. These intimate workshops allow students to learn from master artists dedicated to their crafts and to educating youth. The interactions inspire students to investigate their own creative potential and to develop a life-long love of the arts.
Previous Master Classes have included jazz musician Wynton Marsalis (2002), visual artist Bean Finnerand (2003), and author Lemony Snicket (2004).
