Montalvo’s first-ever mini-series for 20th Century composers focuses on Olivier Messiaen, whose music is rhythmically complex and both harmonically and melodically based on modes of limited transposition, which were Messiaen's own innovation. It is almost impossible to mistake a Messiaen composition for the work of any other Western classical composer. Montalvo presents a number of great contemporary musicians to celebrate Messiaen’s work.
