Jazz Greats and Blues Legends This November Don’t miss 12-time Grammy nominee Earl Klugh, for two nights only, Nov. 5 & 6, in the Carriage House Theatre. The “guitar wizard” (Boston Globe) showcases music from his 2008 Billboard and iTunes top-selling jazz album in two intimate performances. Also, don’t miss A Tribute to Howlin’ Wolf, featuring Chicago blues greats Hubert Sumlin and Eddie Shaw. Local blues luminary J.C. Smith brings these two legends to Montalvo for an evening of incredible performances. Sumlin has shared the stage with The Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, Aerosmith and Santana and Shaw won the 2006 and 2007 Blues Music Award for Instrumentalist-Horn. |

Native American FBI Agent Custer Jackson arrives bereft of clothes or memory at the home of Maxella and Tatsuo, daughter and father living in the middle of a vortex that unleashes relentless lightning. |

New Exhibition: Grandfather's Incline, Opens Nov. 15 Artist Mingwei Lee and architect Stephan Freid collaborated to present Grandfather’s Incline, a proposed sculpture on Montalvo’s grounds. For this exhibition, Lee and Freid present a series of working drawings, a model of the proposed public installation, maps of the area as well as a 12-foot-long table representing the proposed work with fresh baked goods offered to gallery visitors. Also on Nov. 15 at 7 pm join Lee, Fried and curator Julie Lazar for a conversation on art in public spaces. |
CONTEMPORARY CLASSICAL MUSIC SHINES SPOTLIGHT ON ALCATRAZ On Nov. 21, the Afiara String Quartet will perform Alcatraz, a haunting electro-acoustic composition by distinguished composer Ingram Marshall, accompanied by a sequenced projection of incisive photographs of the famous Bay Area prison by Jim Bengston. |
