"Pianistic eloquence with a special gift for commentary"-- The Washington Post
A distinguished pianist, Jeffrey Siegel has been soloist with some of the world's great orchestras and has collaborated with many of the preeminent conductors of our time. His Keyboard Conversations® offers a unique, concert-plus-commentary format in which he speaks to the audience about the music before performing each work in full. Newcomers as well as seasoned music-lovers greet these programs enthusiastically and are constantly delighted by his erudition and wit.
GERSHWIN AND FRIENDS!
The program features Gershwin's beloved Rhapsody in Blue in the composer's rarely-heard arrangement for the solo piano, as well as the local premiere of the unpublished Meditation on a Wedding by Leonard Bernstein, the humorous Cat and the Mouse of Aaron Copland, Scott Joplin’s ragtime masterpiece The Wall Street Rag, MacDowell's tender To a Wild Rose, and Gottschalk's spectacular The Union: a virtuoso treatment of popular American melodies including the Star Spangled Banner and Yankee Doodle.
