 udio  series with the charismatic Cypress String Quartet features the Sout
 h Bay premiere of a brand new quartet called Gravities from brilliant youn
 g San Francisco composer Kurt Rohde. Rohde\, whose music has been describe
 d as  filled with exhilaration and dread\,  has been the recipient of nume
 rous grants and awards for his innovative compositions\, including the 200
 5 Charles Ives Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters\; 
 and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts\, the Koussevitzky Fou
 ndation of the Library of Congress and the Fromm Foundation of Harvard Uni
 versity.Rohde composed this new piece of music using Bartok's Quartet No. 
 6 and Joseph Haydn's Quartet\, Op. 77\, No. 2 as inspiration. The Cypress 
 will perform Rohde's composition in a fascinating evening of music and con
 versation. Rohde will be in attendance at the concert to provide insight i
