OPEN REHEARSAL WITH THE CHITRESH DAS DANCE COMPANY DIRECTED BY PANDIT CHITRESH DAS

As part of AGENCY, Pandit Chitresh Das and the Chitresh Das Dance Company present an intimate behind-the-scenes experience of a master training his company in the dynamic dance-theater tradition of Kathak.

Born in Calcutta, India in 1944, Pandit Chitresh Das, based in both San Francisco and Kolkata, India, is a leading master of the Kathak tradition—the  classical dance of North India that combines storytelling and abstract dance. Trained from age nine by his guru, Pandit Ram Narayan Misra, Pandit Das was schooled in both of the major Kathak traditions. He is a choreographer and artistic director of performing arts schools in the U.S. and India.
