VENUE: Carriage House Theatre
In this program, students will experience native dances, music, drumming, regalia (clothing), history, stories and sign language of the American Plains Indian Tribes. Every song, dance and gesture illustrates a part of Native American heritage as a people with roots in the distant past. Students will be introduced to some popular Native American dances including the Grass Dance, Fancy Dance, Hoop Dance and Eagle Dance. There will be an opportunity to participate in a social round dance. Eddie Madril is a member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. He is an active member of the Native American community and teaches residencies in the schools in Native dance, song, crafts and history.
